FALL FESTIVALS[2]
Given many fabulous things about fall, fall is the theme for September and October. From fall festivals to pumpkin patches, fall foliage, and fall breaks, fall is a wonderful time to explore, relax, and recharge.
Incorporated in 1829, Liberty, Missouri will celebrate its 48th Fall Festival in historic downtown Liberty, Missouri from September 26 to 28. With free admission and more than 200 vendor booths, regional and local performers, and a parade on Saturday, there is something for everyone. Presented by the Liberty Chamber, numerous sponsors support the festival, including Mighty Oak & Entertainment, Hallmark, Liberty Hospital, Viral Video Marketing, and Pony Express Bank.
Harrisonville, Missouri hosts the Log Cabin Festival the following weekend, featuring a free play station with yard games, chalk art, and more on Friday. You can visit local bakers and creators on Lexington Street on Saturday. Live music is available both days, organized by the Missouri Arts Council. The Harrisonville High School Theatre will perform selections from “Mama Mia!” on Saturday afternoon.
From September 12 – October 26, you can enjoy the Harvest Festival at Silver Dollar City in Branson, Missouri. Some of the 20,000 pumpkins weigh more than 1,000 pounds! Apple and pumpkin desserts, hearty stews, and sweet potato kettle chips are always popular. An abundance of memorable moments will be made, whether through encounters with the three-story Pumpkin Greeter, master pumpkin carver Barry Brown, or the nation’s visiting artisans.
THIS WEEK’S ACTIVITY
Find two fall festivals to visit this fall, even if only stopping by for a couple of hours. If you have children, nieces, or nephews, ask them about what they want to see or do at a fall festival. Encourage them to create a fall project or a note or a drawing of their experience (and without the use of a phone or AI 😊).
