TRANSITION
“Everything has an end” is the original 1374 proverb by Geoffrey Chaucer. It has morphed into “All good things must come to an end,” a phrase I have used far too often. Struggling with the difficult realization of needing to transition from Bayles and Bruce, I turned to Geoffrey Chaucer’s original proverb. Returning to the original proverb, I found myself engrossed in fond memories of my late grandparents and the pure joy of my late rescue and shelter dogs. Focusing on positive thoughts provided the incentive to turn a difficult realization into a positive journey through what is now “Bayles Connect” with the continued mantra: “Learn, live, love, read.”
Transitioning from the difficulties of the past couple of months, I returned to a phrase in Rebecca Winn’s book, One Hundred Daffodils: “Moments of joy surround us. This endless striving in the pursuit of joy deprives us of exactly what we seek. It is the ability and willingness to find moments of joy in what is right before us that ensures we will find it. Believing joy is ‘somewhere ‘out there’ and focusing our effort and attention on trying to find it closes off joy rather than revealing it and is the path to frustration and disappointment. Our attachment to what we think we need to make us happy puts a veil over our ability to see the beauty of what is actually present.” Bruce lives on in Bayles Connect even though he departed with the person who originally brought him into our family. I continue to reflect on and learn from the immense love he brought into our lives.
THIS WEEK’S ACTIVITY
If you struggle with difficult moments, circumstances, events, or people, consider what you can gain from Geoffrey Chaucer’s original proverb and the phrase in Rebecca Winn’s book. For those who may not know or have forgotten, daffodils symbolize rebirth and new beginnings. Daffodils also symbolize creativity, resilience, forgiveness, energy, and hope. www.bouqs.com.
