SUPER BOWL SUNDAY AND STICKY LAWYERS
Nearly everyone has heard of Super Bowl Sunday, but many of you may be unfamiliar with Sticky Lawyers. Sticky Lawyers is a podcast, and a fascinating one. I was fortunate to have a recent interview with podcast host John Reed about my work as an author, former litigator, mediator, and facilitator.
What does Sticky Lawyers have to do with Super Bowl Sunday? As I was working with John on the recent podcast, I found myself thinking of Ed Hochuli because John’s podcast involves conversations with “lawyers who set themselves apart because of the work they do and the connections they create.”
Early in my litigation career, I worked with attorney Ed Hochuli of Jones, Skelton & Hochuli. Not only was Ed a fantastic lawyer; he was an NFL referee, father, husband,
and former college football player. We forged a connection over football and the law. I was (and still am) a diehard Packers’ fan, although I will be rooting for the Kansas City Chiefs today. Ed was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In 1997, Ed surprised my husband and I with tickets to the Super Bowl in New Orleans to watch the Green Bay Packers play (and beat) the New England Patriots. Green Bay’s head coach was Mike Holmgren, and New England’s head coach was Bill Parcells.
The next time you meet a lawyer, ask them about something other than the law. You might be surprised by what you learn. For more about Sticky Lawyers, go to

THIS WEEK’S ACTIVITY
Even if Super Bowl Sunday is not your thing, ask someone you work with, volunteer with, or attend school with about their favorite sport, hobby, or book. You will likely learn something new. And you might even forge a connection that leads to something you never expected.2

2 I originally intended to highlight another author this week and announce how to enter the March drawing for Bruce’s Basket, but that will come next week instead.
